1. Momella Lakes, Arusha National Park - canoe past hippos, buffalo and flamingos with Kilimanjaro and Meru both visible. 2. Lake Duluti - a quiet crater lake near Arusha town, good for monitor lizards, monkeys, and serious birding. 3. Kili Golf Kaskaz - horseback riding among zebra, wildebeest and giraffe at the foot of Mount Meru. 4. Chemka (Kikuletwa) Hot Springs - crystal-clear, fig-tree-shaded natural pools near the Kilimanjaro region. 5. Empakai Crater - a walking-safari-only caldera with a flamingo-lined soda lake, right inside Ngorongoro Conservation Area. 6. Olduvai Gorge - the "Cradle of Mankind," directly on the Ngorongoro-Serengeti road, skipped by most drive-through itineraries. 7. Lake Manyara Tree/Canopy Walkway - Tanzania's first treetop walkway, 18m up in the forest canopy. 8. Cycling Safari, Lake Manyara area - see zebra, gazelle, hippo and buffalo from a bike, not a vehicle window. 9. Lake Natron & Ol Doinyo Lengai - a stark soda lake beneath an active volcano, one of East Africa's key flamingo breeding sites. 10. Materuni Village & Waterfall - a Chagga coffee experience and waterfall hike on Kilimanjaro's lower slopes.
Why this matters for your trip
None of these require giving up the big-ticket parks - they slot into extra days, transfer days, or add-on afternoons around a standard Serengeti/Ngorongoro/Tarangire circuit.
